We advised Spring Hill College on its strategic partnership with Rockhurst University. We were retained by Spring Hill to explore a potential transaction or partnership(s) to accelerate the development of new academic programs, particularly in healthcare, after its receipt of a $35 million federal grant for the construction and equipping of a new Health and Science Innovation Center (“HSIC”) on campus.
After assisting Spring Hill to articulate its objectives, we contacted a range of potential partners across the country, including other universities, health systems and other market participants. The potential to increase enrollment in healthcare programs was a strong driver of interest by potential partners.
Ultimately Rockhurst and Spring Hill, both Jesuit institutions, agreed to work together to develop health care related programs centered on the HSIC, pathways to postgraduate degrees and other initiatives. In addition, they will explore administrative enhancements and efficiencies to benefit both parties.
